Enormous Peach Sold at 132.7 US Dollars

A peach weighing 738 g was sold Tuesday for 1,088 yuan (some 132.7 US dollas) at a fair held in Wangfujing, a downtown commercial center of Beijing.

The peach is the largest produced this year in Beijing's Pinggu County, a place famous for producing big peaches.

Currently, over 30,000 rural households are engaged in peach production in Pinggu, where the cultivated area for peach has reached 150,000 mu (10,000 ha), and the annual peach output stands at around 100 million kg.

Pinggu peaches are sold in more than 20 provinces and municipalities nationwide, and are exported to Russia, Singapore, Thailand and other countries and regions, bringing in an annual profit of over five million US dollars.
