Guangxi Tin Flooding Leaves 81 Missing

A preliminary investigation shows that 81 miners in Nandan County of southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region are missing and feared dead in a mine accident taking place on July 17.

According to the investigation team, 59 miners were confirmed missing in the Lajiapo Mine in Nandan County, when flooding occurred at 3:30 am that day.

Another 19 miners were confirmed missing in the neighboring Longshan Mine and three more in the Tianjiao Mine.

Rescuers found some bodies of the missing miners Monday, but they are yet to be identified.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
