Chinese Defense Minister Meets Romanian Guests

No matter what changes have taken place in the international situation, Sino-Romanian ties have continued to develop, Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian said Monday afternoon.

Chi, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, told George Maior, state secretary for Defense Policy of Romania, that China and Romania have enjoyed traditional friendship although the two states are geographically far apart.

He noted that the Chinese government respects the Romanian people's choice for development, values the state and military relations between the two countries, and hopes to further promote the existing ties.

Maior expressed appreciation for China's achievement in economic development. He said that Romania and China have maintained friendly relations, hoping that his visit would push forward the bilateral cooperation in the military and other fields.
