Information Technology Applied in Auto Industry of Shanghai

The auto industry of Shanghai, China's financial and economic powerhouse, is applying information technology as a sort of well-geared engine to push its economic growth.

Jiang Yiren, vice mayor of the municipality, said at the Second Changchun International Automobile that Shanghai has initially established an information network to boost the local auto industry.

World auto giants, such as U.S.-based General Motors and Germany's Volkswagen, have all established footholds in Shanghai. The auto industry is serving as one of the pillar industries behind local economic growth, Jiang said.

Recently, the municipality invested 100 million yuan to set up an automobile information investment firm, which is expected to help manage auto enterprises with scientific and advanced methods.

Moreover, Shanghai has invited foreign experts to bring the state-of-the-art technologies and e-commerce solutions to auto firms to meet international standards.

The city has projected to implement four key projects this year, aiming to solve the practical problems currently hindering the auto sector's development.
