Chinese Pair Go to Men's 10m Platform Semifinal

Olympic and world championships titlist Tian Liang led his teammate into the men's 10m platform semifinal Monday at the Universiade.

Tian, who clinched double gold medals at the Fukuoka world championships last month, compiled 468.27 points from his six semifinal dives, ahead of Cuban Jose Guerra with 445.32 points.

Tian's teammate Li Chengwei was third with 427.50 points, just 0.36 points ahead of Russia's Roman Volod'kov with 427.14 points.

Pak Yong Ryong, from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, stood fifth with 424.20 points. Mexican Fernando Platas, who took a silver in the men's 3m springboard on Saturday, came sixth with 406.74 points.

The final of the event, the sixth at the Tsinghua University diving pool, kicks off at 8:00 Monday evening.
