Over 4,500 People to Attend Sixth World Chinese Entrepreneur ConventionMore than 4,500 people will attend the Sixth World Chinese Entrepreneur Convention, scheduled to open in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, on September 17.The participants will include 3,000 business people and scientists of Chinese origin from overseas and 1,500 from the Chinese mainland, said Liu Jian, an official in charge of press affairs with the All China Federation for Industry and Commerce, Wednesday in Beijing. The convention, which will last for three days, is designed to promote Chinese culture, step up ties and friendship among business people of Chinese origin from all over the world, and to advance business exchange and cooperation. During the convention, two forums, one exhibition to showcase China's economic and technological achievements, as well as a number of inspection tours by the participants will be held. It is learned that Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji; Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and three ministerial officials in charge of economic affairs will address the convention. The convention is sponsored by the All-China Federation for Industry and Commerce, the Chinese Association for Overseas Exchanges, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the China Federation of Overseas Chinese and Nanjing City. The world Chinese entrepreneurs convention was initiated as a biennial event by Chinese chambers of commerce in Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong in 1990, but the first such meeting was held in Singapore in 1991. Four other similar meetings were held in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Thailand; Vancouver, Canada; and Melbourne, Australia. |
