Ethiopia Hosts Farewell Reception for Chinese Coach
The Ethiopian Table Tennis Association (ETTA) held a farewell reception here Saturday for Chinese table tennis coach Chen Jingang who has coached the Ethiopian table tennis team for one year.
Shewalem Mensie, president of the ETTA, expressed his thanks to the support offered by the Chinese government since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1970, saying "we do not forget the hospitality of the Chinese government and the people showed to Ethiopia" in the past years.
He also hailed the best results in Ethiopian table tennis history with the support of the Chinese coach gained in the 14th All African Table Tennis Championships, held here from November 16 to 23, 2000.
In the table tennis championships, both Ethiopian teams of women and men stood second place while women's doubles gained gold and silver medals.
This is a wonderful achievement, said the president, adding, " this great success is a pride not only for Ethiopia but also for our friend China."
