Russian President expressed his condolences to the American people

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to the American people over the terrorist attacks that hit the United States on Tuesday, and Russia suspended all flights to the United States.

President Putin was following the developments on television as they unfolded, the Kremlin press service said. The Russian foreign minister was called to the Kremlin to discuss the attacks, Interfax reported.

The Russian Transport Ministry suspended all flights to the United States, Interfax cited ministry officials as saying.

There was no other immediate reaction in Russia. Russian television was running live unscheduled footage of the attacks.
