Brzezinski Condemns Attacks on US

Former National Security Advisor to the US President Dr. Brzezinski Wednesday morning, who is attending an international forum in Beijing, condemned Tuesday's attacks on the U.S. as "brutal".

He said this attack "highlights the character of one of major threats we face," and he stressed that "We view this attack not only on the United States", and "not only attack on American people, but also on modern civilized society", and "on international system".

"It is the challenge to civilization", added Brzezinski, who is in Beijing attending the ongoing International Forum on China and the World in the 21st Century.

He pointed out that "We have the obligation to respond and we will respond in self-defense", and "We will do what is necessary to respond and to make certain such threats be eliminated."

He voiced that "We very much hope for real support of our friends because in the long run, this is a threat that affects all of us."

He, on behalf of American participants in this conference, expressed thanks for the Chinese government and people for the expression of sympathy.
