US President to Go on Asian Trip as Scheduled

US President George W. Bush will travel to Asia next month as scheduled despite last week's terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, the White House said on Wednesday.

"Our everyday assumption is that the meetings will take place," White House spokesman Ari Fleischer told reporters.

"It's a month out, we'll continue to work all the various issues as it gets closer, but today, on September 19th, that's your best guidance," Fleischer said.

Bush is scheduled to visit South Korea, Japan and China next month on his first trip to the region since he took office in January.
