Terrorism Unable to Be Justified by Any Political Cause: Ethiopia

Ethiopia's ruling party said Friday in Addis Ababa that terrorism cannot be justified by any political cause, the Walta Information Center reported.

Terrorism as a means of pursuing ones' political objective is totally unacceptable, the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) was quoted as saying in a statement.

After the tragic incidents of terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington on September 11, a global coalition was in the making, the statement said, adding that Ethiopia itself a victim of and a pioneer in the struggle against terrorism, can only welcome such an international effort to quell terrorism.

The Ethiopian government has over the past 10 years been at the forefront in the fight against terrorism, and it will therefore continue to fully support any and all struggle against terrorism in Ethiopia, the sub-region and the world as a while, it stressed.

The EPRDF, while conveying its condolences to the victims of the terror attacks in the U.S. and their families, also expressed its solidarity with the people and the government of the United States.
