Southwest China to Be More Competitive in Tourism

Localities in southwest China have decided to strengthen cooperation in the development of tourism in order to attract more tourists from home and abroad.

Authorities of Tibet and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous regions, Chongqing Municipality, Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan province, and Chengdu City are all eager to tap their rich in natural and tourism resources, and believe this cooperation will make a more competitive tourism industry in southwest China.

The local authorities will, in a couple of weeks, organize an expert group to an inspection and evaluation tour along a number of selected tourist routes for further improvements so that the tourism products can be adopted National Tourism Administration for foreign promotion, sources said Thursday.

During the process of cooperation, these regions will develop transregional tourist routes and attraction in a planned manner, depending on the tourism resources with unique local characteristics.

As China is implementing the strategy to develop west China, these regions have set tourism as a key to their economic growth and have worked out preferential policies to boost the development of the industry. Enditem
