Guangzhou Enters Final Preparation for Ninth National Games

As the major sports ground for the opening ceremony of the Ninth National Games, the Guangdong Olympic Stadium has lately entered its final stage of regulatory examination. Designed by NEB and at a cost of 1.2 billion yuan, the Asia biggest and most advanced stadium covers an area of 300,000 square meters and can hold 80,000 spectators. Not to follow the traditional style of round for stadium design, it has a roof shaped like a gracefully flying ribbon to suggest and reflect the pursuit for sports spirits. Picture shows a new and elegantly styled sculpture, the "golden five rings" outside the stadium.
