China Lost in Women's Elimination of Beach Volleyball
Zhang Jingkun and Tian Jia were defeated by Ulrike SCHMIDT and Gudula STAUB (GER) 17-15 in 48 minutes on Saturday, 16 September at the Olympic Beach Volleyball Centre.
Germany had seven match points before winning, and China had three match points at 15-14 in an extremely close match. The Germans, seeded eighth in the competition, scored the first point of the match and led 3-2 at the first side change.
STAUB scored all her team's seven aces, while Chinese only had three aces.
