Tao Wins Gold for China
China's TAO Luna won the gold medal in the women's 10 metre air
rifle ahead of Jasna SEKARIC [YUG] and Australian Annemarie FORDER, scoring
488.2 to win by 1.7 points.
TAO was never challenged for the lead, shooting consistently throughout
the 10  shot
final, while SEKARIC held second place comfortably.
The highlight of the final was the battle for the bronze medal between FORDER,
Svetlana SMIRNOVA [RUS], and FUKUSHIMA Michiko [JPN].
FORDER, who started strongly, faded during the final, but shot a 10.5 on
her last shot to secure the medal and beat SMIRNOVA who shot a 9.2.
