Liu Guoliang Advances to Semifinals
Number 3 seed LIU Guoliang from the People's Republic of China, will play number 5 seed Jan-Ove WALDNER from Sweden in the semifinals of the men's Table Tennis after a convincing win over the unseeded German, Joerg ROSSKOPF, 21-11, 21-14, 21-7.
Liu dominated the three games with controlled and precise playing which outclassed ROSSKOPF's powerful, but messy play.
Liu won most points with his skilful service game and while ROSSKOPF's strong backhand topspin won points, his downfall was the many net and long shots he played, when put under pressure from his opponent.
The final will be played Sunday September 24.
