Wang is the leading player of a new generation of women players after Deng Yaping in China. Whether in competitions or in daily life, she always smiles, which gives the false impression that she is not fierce and hard-hitting in her strokes. Actually, Wang resembles Deng in many ways. She pays attention to tactics and the placement of the ball, and her backhand strokes leave little to be desired. At the 45th World Table Tennis Championships she collected gold medals in the women's team, women's singles and women's doubles.
