Liaoning University

Liaoning University is located in the northern part of Shenyang city of Liaoning Province, a famous historic city of China, which is the center of Liaoning’s economy, politics, culture and traffic.

Liaoning University was established on September 15, 1958, whose predecessor was an amalgamation of Northeastern Financial and Economic College, the former Shenyang teachers College, and Shenyang Russian Language College. Today, as a provincial key university, it has and area of 6oo,ooo square meters and a building area of 420,000 square meters. Lately, it successively passed the preliminary examination and the formal examination by the authorize in charge of “211 Project” in July, 1997 and in April, 1998.

Liaoning University consists of 12 colleges, 8 departments, 41 subjects for undergraduates, along with 41 master conferring sites. The subjects in economics and management, as the main ones of the university, have 3 postdoctoral exchange stations, 5 doctor-conferring sites, a MBA-conferring site, a national personnel-training base for basic economic research. Since its foundation, Liaoning University has trained approximately 80,000 graduates, including college graduates, graduates, master postgraduates, doctor postgraduates. Meanwhile, it has also trained approximately 3,000 foreign students from more than 30 countries such as Korea, Russia, Japan, Italy, the British, the U.S.A, Thailand and France.

To promote the4 development of scientific research, Liaoning University has set up 40 academic institutes and research centers. Including the Liaoning Provincial Training Center for computer, and Audio-visual Education Programs. Of them the computation center and the Test and Analysis center and the biggest educational projects in Liaoning Province funded by the World Bank Loan.

Liaoning University has a highly qualified teaching staff, among its 984 full-time teachers, 496 are professors and associate professors, some of which are experts and scholars of great attainments, wellknown in both domestic and international academic circles.

The number of enrolled students in Liaoning University ranks first in the province. At present, the University has more than 12,000 enrolled students.

Liaoning University Press has a history of over 10 years It is a fairly strong and influential comprehensive publishing house, well-known for its size and quality. The Press also publishes a series of academic journal such as “Liaoning University Journal”, “Studies on Japan”, “Korean studies”, “Studies of Education of Higher School”, “Population Survey and Research”, ect.

The newly built Library has a rich book collection of 1,600,000 volumes and plenty of advanced facilities, in which, History museum and Nature Museum are opened to the visitors.
