Ding, male, of
Han nationality, born in Shanghai in September 1915, graduated from St. John's University
in Shanghai, Columbia University and New York Union Theology College in United States.
After
returning to China, Ding became president of Nanjing Union Theological Seminary and vice
president of Nanjing University.
Served as
chairman and honorable chairman of Patriotic Movement Committee of Protestant Churches of
China under banner of self-administration, self-support and self-propagation, president of
China Christian Council, vice chairman of Jiangsu Provincial Committee of Chinese People's
Political Consultative Conference.
Elected member
of Third CPPCC National Committee, Standing Committee member of Fifth CPPCC National
Committee, vice chairman of Seventh and Eighth CPPCC National Committees, deputy to Third,
Fourth and Fifth National People's Congresses, Standing Committee member of Sixth and
Seventh NPCs.
