Ren Jianxin, Vice-Chairman of Ninth CPPCC
National Committee
Ren was born
in August 1925; a native of Xiangfen, Shanxi Province; has been president of Supreme
People's Court, secretary of Committee of Political Science and Law under Communist Party
of China (CPC) Central Committee since 1992.
From 1946 to
1948, studied chemical engineering at Beijing University; from 1948 to 1959, worked as a
clerk for North China People's Government, General Office of the Committee of Political
Science and Law under CPC Central Committee and Bureau of Legislative Affairs under State
Council.
In 1959, went
to work at China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and served
successively as director of CCPIT's Legal Affairs Department, secretary general of Foreign
Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, secretary general of Maritime Arbitration
Commission and CCPIT vice-president.
Served as
vice-president of Supreme People's Court 1983-88, and has served as president of Supreme
People's Court since 1988.
Was member of
13th and 14th CPC Central Committees and member of Secretariat of 14th CPC Central
Committee.
