Ye Xuanping, Vice-Chairman of Ninth CPPCC
National Committee
Ye, a native
(Han nationality) of Meixian, Guangdong Province, born Nov. 1924, started work in Jan.
1941 and joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) Sept. 1945.
Ye studied at
Yan'an Natural Science College, 1941-45, and Harbin Polytechnical University and Qinghua
University, 1949-50; and received training in machine-building in Soviet Union, 1952-53.
He worked as
deputy chief engineer of Shenyang City Machine-building Bureau, 1960-1961; deputy director
and chief engineer of the Beijing No.1 Machine Tool Plant in 1962-1973; bureau director of
the State Science and Technology Commission, 1978-1980; vice-governor of Guangdong
Province, mayor of Guangzhou and deputy secretary of the CPC Guangzhou City Committee,
1980-1985; deputy secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and Guangdong
governor, 1985-1991; vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, 1991-93, and from 1993
on, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, and deputy secretary of the leading
Party Group of the CPPCC National Committee.
Ye Xuanping
served as alternate member and member of the 12th CPC Central Committee and member of both
13th and 14th CPC Central Committees. He was added to the chaimanship of CPPCC National
Committee at the Fourth Plenum of the 7th CPPCC National Committee and elected
vice-chairman of the 8th CPPCC National Committee.
