Zhang Kehui, Vice-Chairman of CPPCC Ninth
National Committee
Born 1928;
native of Taiwan's Zhanghua; studied in a senior commercial school in Zhanghua, 1942-1947,
and Taiwan Teachers' College and Xiamen University, 1947-1949; and later served as an
officer with Fujian-Guangdong-Jiangxi border column of People's Army.
Between
1952-1982, Zhang worked consecutively as section chief of United Front Work Department of
Fujian Provincial Committee of Communist Party of China (CPC); deputy secretary-general of
CPPCC Fujian Provincial Committee; deputy director of Fujian Provincial Overseas Chinese
Affairs Office; deputy director of Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office; vice-chairman
of Fujian Provincial Federation of Taiwan Compatriots.
Moreover, he
worked as Standing Committee member and head of United Front Work Department of CPC Fujian
Provincial Committee; vice-chairman of CPPCC Fujian Provincial Committee; deputy director
of Taiwan Affairs Office of State Council, 1982-1991.
From
1991-1997, he was chairman of All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots; advisor to the
mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits; vice-chairman of Central
Committee Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League (TDSGL).
Since 1997 he
has been chairman of TDSGL Central Committee and honorary chairman of All-China Federation
of Taiwan Compatriots.
Zhang was
member of CPPCC 5th and 7th National Committees, and a Standing Committee member of Eighth
CPPCC National Committee.
