Zhao Nanqi, Vice-Chairman of Ninth CPPCC

Zhao, male; an
ethnic Korean; born April, 1927; a native of Yongji, Jilin Province; joined Communist
Party of China (CPC) February, 1947; joined People's Liberation Army (PLA) December, 1945;
graduated from Military Academy of Logistics of PLA; college education; rank of general;
former president of Academy of Military Sciences of PLA.
Served in the
Chinese People's Volunteers in the 1950s, and studied at Military Academy of Logistics of
PLA between 1955 and 1957.
Started to do
political work in the army in 1959, and served successively as political commissar in
Yanbian and Tonghua Military Subareas in Jilin Province; served as political commissar of
Jilin Provincial Military Area Command from March 1984 to March 1985.
Served as
director and Party secretary of General Logistics Department of PLA and member of Central
Military Commission between November 1987 and October 1992; president of Academy of
Military Sciences of PLA from October 1992 to July 1995.
Member of
12th, 13th and 14th CPC Central Committees, and vice-chairman of Ethnic Affairs Committee
of Fifth National People's Congress.
