Tian Jiyun, Vice-Chairman of NPC Standing Committee
Following is biographical sketch of Tian Jiyun:
Tian, male, of Han Nationality, born in June 1929,
a native of Feicheng, Shandong Province, joined Communist Party
of China (CPC) in May 1945 and started to work in January 1945,
with an educational background of secondary school.
Joined Eighth Route Army in 1941, studied in a middle
school in a Communist-led anti-Japanese area and served as a general
accountant at the Hebei-Shandong-Henan battle logistics headquarters
in 1940s. Worked as a teacher and administrative cadre at Guiyang
People's Revolutionary University and as a financial cadrer at
Guizhou Provincial Training Class in 1950s, served as section,
division chief and deputy bureau director at Guizhou Provincial
Financial Department. After 1969, Tian worked in Sichuan Province
as first deputy director and then director of the Provincial Finance
Bureau. Served as deputy secretary-general of State Council, 1981-83;
vice-premier and secretary-general of State Council, 1983-87,
member of Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee, 1987-93;
and vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's
Congress (NPC) since 1993. Served as a member of 12th, 13th, 14th
and 15th CPC Central Committee, member of Political Bureau of
13, 14th and 15th CPC Central Committee, and vice-chairman of
the Eighth NPC Standing Committee.
