The Great Wall

The Great Wall is beyond doubt a gorgeous project, the greatest of its kind in ancient China. The Great Wall, built as early as the 7th century B.C. by various principal states, was linked up and extended after the unification of China in 221 B.C., thus gradually forming a wall of over 6,300 kilometers. Baptized by nature for over 2,000 years it has undergone great ordeals on earth, yet still ranges proudly in the east of the world. Today, the Great Wall as a military defense work against the harassment and invasion from without has become a thing of the past, yet it is playing a role in bridging up the friendship between the Chinese people and the peoples of the world. When spaceman takes a look down on earth, the Great Wall of China is the only man-made project that could be clearly discerned from the spaceship. Therefore, the Great Wall is a symbol of China, the glory of Chinese nation. In Beijing area, there are three sections of the Great Wall for visitors to enjoy. One is the Badaling Section that snakes along in Yanqing County and another of the Juyong Pass in Changping County, and still the other, that dances up and down over mountain ranges is the Great Wall at Mutianyu in Huairou County of Beijing.
