Sun-Moon Lake

The Sun-Moon Lake, a year-round resort located in Nantou County of central Taiwan, is Taiwan's largest natural lake. The Sun-Moon Lake is more than 900 hectares in area, an average of 90 meters in depth and 35 kilometer in perimeter. It attracts large amounts of tourists, especially honeymooners, because it is truly a delightful place for rest and relaxes in beautiful surroundings. The lake is surrounded by mountains with an island in the center, which divides the lake surface into two parts. The northern part is in a round shape like the sun and the southern part looks like a crescent. The waters and mountains have made the place an excellent natural wonder. Activities here include boating around the lake, visiting the small Peacock Garden zoo; Wen Wu Temple (dedicated to both Confucius and the God of War), and the Filial Devotion Pagoda. The Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village near Sun Moon Lake consists of replicas of the primitive dwellings of the nine aboriginal tribes in Taiwan that exemplify their culture.
