Jiuzhaigou (Nine-Village Gully) is a scenic spot
tucked away in the depth of mountains at Nanping, a county in the
northern part of Sichuan Province, with an elevation of about 2.500
meters. The scenic spot actually consists of three major gullies,
spread over a total area of 60.000 hectares, which formerly was
the site of nine villages of Tibetans. Hence the name Jiuzhaigou.กกกก
Jiuzhaigou is well known for its network of alpine lakes, spectacular
waterfalls and wonderful vegetation. There are, for instance, 108
terraced lakes in the midst of great mountains where the valleys
echo with the roar of cataracts and cliffside springs. The place,
therefore, has always enjoyed the reputation of being a "Wonderland
on Earth" Besides, in the vast primeval forests there are all kinds
of rare birds and animals. The place is also a habitat for the giant
panda, national treasure of China.
Yellow
Dragon Scenic Area
Located
in Songpan County of Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of
Aba in Sichuan Province, Yellow Dragon Scenic Area covers 700 square
kilometers of land. Its main sights of interest are grouped in the
3.6 kilometer-long Yellow Dragon Ravine which is covered with layers
of sedimentary trvertine carbonate like terraced fields, resembling
a huge yellow dragon. Other sceneries include snow-capped mountains,
watefalls, virgin forests and canyons. Apart from its unique karst
landform, Yellow Dragon Scenic Area is also known for its rich resources
of flora and fauna. From the bottom of Yellow Dragon Ravine (2,000
meters above sea level) to the mountain top (3,800 meters abovd
sea level) exist in sequence subtropical evergreen trees mingled
with deciduous broadleaf trees, conniferous and broadleaf mingled
forests, conniferous orohylile, and corypgile. Sauntering among
these forests are a dozen rare animal species including Giang Panda
and Golden Monkey. The karst landform complimented by rare flora
and fauna resources presnts a heavenly scene. And the majestic,
precipitous, grotesque and primeval sceneries win Yellow Dragon
Scenic Area many titles including "the world's marvellous scenery"
and "immortals' abode on earth".
