Wulingyuan

Wulingyuan, located in the western part of Hunan and only 400 Km away from Changsha, remains the state famous scenic spot consisting of Zhangjiajie, Suoxiyu and Tianzishan. It covers an area of 369 square Km, of which state first-level protection area 53.5 square Km, second-level protection area 55.5 square Km and third-level protection area 203 square Km. There are 14 travel lines extending 70 Km and over 560 scenic spots. Wulingyuan, belonging to the rare landforms of sandstone, is ranked as "Natural Labyrinth" and "Top wonderful mountain under heaven" for its criss-cross gullies, towering peaks, lush green trees and animals and birds in-groups. Zhangjiajie, also called black rock mountain, stays the first state forest park where 3000 wonderful mountains soar straight up into the sky with the neat edge cut into various shape. In the crack and valley, you can find spring and waterfall running all over the year just like a beautiful picture Suoxiyu, surround by mountain and water, is featured by wonderful mountain, beautiful waters, perilous bridge and deep cave including 200 scenic spots of ten-li art gallery, west sea, Baizhang (one hundred Zhang) George, Bafeng lake and yellow dragon cave. Tianzi mountain, covering an area of 100 square Km, is located in the northern part of Wulingyuan and border Zhangjiajie in the south and Suoxiyu in the east. There are altogether over 80 scenic spots including five travel area of Huanglongquan, Chapangta pagoda, Laowuchang, Fengxi mountain and Shijayan, one heaven bridges, two heaven pools, four heaven gates, and five caves. Wulingyuan owns beautiful scenery as well as rich flavor of local conditions and customs. In the long term historical development, the minority nationality of Tujia nationality, Miao nationality and Bai nationality have formed their unique tradition and customs. It is a great pleasure to visit Miao stockaded village to enjoy festival of "Sheba festival", "April 8", "Autumn catch festival", hand wave dance, Magusi dance and cattle fighting.
