Stone Forest
The
Imperial Palace in Shenyang is the place where Nurhachi - Emperor Tai
Zu (1559 - 1629) and his son Emperor Tai Zong (1592 - 16430 once lived.
This palace complex covers an area of 60,000 square meters, and has over
90 buildings and over 300 rooms. Construction of the main structure was
started in 1625, and completed in 1636.
The whole complex consists of three routes: the east, the imperial and
the west routes. In the east route, there are the Dazheng Hall, and Shiwang
(Ten King) Pavilion. In the imperial route stands the Chongzheng Hall,
which passes through Daqing Gate, Qingning Palace and ascends Moon Terrace.
In the west route are Wenshou Pavilion. All the buildings were constructed
during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. The style of
the buildings is a combination of the Han and Man designs. The Imperial
Palace in Shenyang is one of the two best-preserved palace complexs in
China.
