Ice-Snow Festival
Harbin
holds its traditional ice lantern celebration in parks and on January
5, 1985 it officially held its first Ice and Snow Festival. During the
festival in Zhaolin Park there is a big display of ice lanterns. On main
streets and squares there are ice sculptures; various winter sports and
tournaments are held on the iced Songhua River; there are also a staged
wedding ceremony and many commercial meetings. The Ice and Snow Festival
is one of the wonders in North China in winter.
