Lushan Mountain

Lushan, also known as Kuang Mountain is situated by the side of Poyang Lake in the north of province of Jiangxi. is one of Chinas most famous mountains. Its scenery has attracted tourists throughout Chinas history. Numerous legends and fables have been told about its points of interest. Now it has been classified as National Park under state protection. it covers 306 square kilometers and is famous for its sheer Cliffs, grotesque crags, clear streams, and waterfalls. It is an ideal summer resort and in the winter, the snow is spectacular. The Dongling Temple was built in 386 and was the birthplace of a sect of Buddhism.

Lushan is abundant in scenic spots, springs, rocks in fancy shapes and waterfalls. It is especially famous for waterfalls. In summer time Lushan is a perfect resort place, and in winter Lusahn presents a unique snow clad mountain view. On the mountains there are also many ancient temples and Buddhist cultural relics.

Lying between Five Old Men Peak and Nine Wonder Peak is a mountain range below which is a colossal depression known as Hanpo Pass. Stone steps from a stone structure at one end of the mountain lead to Hanpo Pavilion at the top. This is the best place to view the entire scene, with Poyang Lake receding into the distance. Especially in the morning one can have a perfect view of the sun rising in the east. Here tourists can also watch the fleeting clouds arising from every side, whirling within the confines of Hanpo Pass. The best time to view the sunrise and clouds is from Mid-October to early April in the following year.

In December, 1996 The mount Lushan was listed in the Chronology of Recognition of World Heritages in China.
