Tianya Haijiao
Tianya
Haijao (The End of the Earth) is 26 kilometers west of Sanya City under
the Horse Ridge Mountain.
It is a tourist attraction with mysterious color on Hainan lsland. It has been a place for the people and officials who were condemned of treason in ancient dynasties. The name was so given, as there is no way to go in front of the massive sea. The characteristics of the area are the amazing harmony of mountains, rocks, beaches and seawater. Touring around the area you can find high rocks rising up to the sky, the sea vast and limitless, the sky volatile and unpredictable.
There
are a group of strange-looking rocks on the beach. Among the hundreds
of stones of grotesque shapes, which are eroded to be shining and round
by sea waves, stands two huge pillar-like rocks, one bearing the inscription
"Tianya" and the 
other
"Haijiao". The four characters together mean "the end of the world". There
are other inscriptions carved on other big rocks China and other countries
visit here, riding on camels or horses they hired and taking photographs.
About 300 meters to the east of the pillars stands another rock with four Chinese characters "Nantian Yi Zhu" (A Pillar in the Southern Sky). The endless blue seawater decorated with these fantastic rock reveals a spectacle in front of tourists.
