The Bund

By the glittering Huang Pu River, stands one after another, the tall and huge architecture showing an air of prosperity for the oriental city ¡ª Shanghai. And this is Bund, the place well known to the world, being the symbol of Shanghai.

For a long time, "the Bund" always refers to the part of the west bank of Huangpu River located between Yan'an Road East and the "Out Free Ferry Bridge". It is a boulevard along which stand the modern building of vatious countries than and is also one of the most attractive urban landscapes in the world. It is the place where tourists and travelers to Shanghai are sure to visit.

It stretches one and a half kilometers from Garden Bridge or Wai Bai Du Bridge in the north to East Jin Ling Road in the south, and has been regarded as a symbol of Shanghai. To the west side of the Bund stand 52 high-rise buildings, and to its east side is the Huangpu River. The Bund is a great meeting place for local Chinese and foreigners alike. People stroll up and down the Bund enjoying the magnificent view of the modern city; at night the Bund becomes the paradise for lovers.

The present Bund has become the centre of international finance as well as the touring resort thus forms as a colourful picture of the Shanghai City. In the year to come, as a tourist site, the Boud which reflecs the financial economic development of Shanghai, will contribute without fail to the economic growth of China.
