Premier Zhu Rongji said on March 15 that China will further strengthen management in all fields, especially in the banking sector, while stressing the principles of administering the management in accordance with law.

     Zhu made the remark at the press conference, which is the last of its kind held at the Third Session of the Ninth National People's Congress (NPC).

     He disclosed that in the past two years, China dealt with more than 5,000 financial cases and dismissed over 50 bank presidents at different levels.

     In reply to a question by a China Central Television reporter, the premier said he has raised the issue at the first State Council meeting this year and made the year 2000 a year of management.
