BEIJING, June 4 -- Senior Chinese security official Meng Jianzhu on Wednesday met with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Kheng in Beijing.

Cambodia is a friendly neighbor and important partner of China, said Meng, the head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

He recalled the meetings between Chinese leaders and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen last year, saying that both leaders have reached important consensus on advancing bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperation.

He said China is ready to work with Cambodia to consolidate their friendship, deepen law-enforcement and security cooperation, and safeguard each other's national security and stability.

Sar Kheng said Cambodia will join hands with China in law-enforcement and security work.
