BEIJING, July 31  -- Senior leader Liu Yunshan on Thursday reiterated the need for the Party's "mass line" campaign to be implemented.

The campaign was launched in June last year to make government more accessible to the public and clean up officials' undesirable work styles. Its second phase will soon end in September.

The campaign is at a key stage, and stricter inspections are needed to ensure good results, said Liu, a Standing Committee member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Political Bureau.

He listened to reports from 14 officials in charge of inspecting the campaign's implementation nationwide. He asked them to retain a strict attitude and dare to expose high-level malpractice.

He also asked the inspectors to be more alert to tip-offs from grassroots communities on local authorities' wrongdoing.
