There are a group of people who cannot enjoy light. They usually spare more endeavors than other people without visual impairment. Although they face numerous difficulties, those people take an optimistic attitude towards life.

China marked the 31st White Cane Safety Day on Oct. 15, 2014. Xia Li, 32, a masseur with visual impairment from Nanchang, capital of central China's Jiangxi province, shared his story.

Having suffered congenital cataract for nine years, Xia lost eyesight at the age of 9 because his illness was delayed due to poverty. Xia had to go to schools for people with visual impairment. After graduation, Xia took massage as his career in a local message hospital.

Xia became a skillful masseur after over 10 years' exploration. He is extremely popular among customers and his salary is considerable.

Xia is always dreaming to have his own career. Hence, he gave up his stable work in hospital and opened a massage house with people with visual impairment.

"I hope I can let more people like me have a job with my massage skill," says Xia.
