BEIJING, Nov. 25 -- China's top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng on Tuesday encouraged the non-public sector of the economy to quicken upgrades to help the country's reform progress.

Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remark during an awards ceremony in Beijing for 100 outstanding figures in the private sector.

The private sector should step up its transformation and upgrade to serve the new economic normality, Yu said.

Party commitees and governments at all levels should implement favorable policies and make real efforts to address problems confronting the private sector, Yu said.
