Twenty-four miners were killed and 39 injured when an explosion ripped through a coal mine in northern China's Heilongjiang province in April.

Forty-six miners died in an explosion at a gold mine in north China after being ordered to continue work even though a fire had broken out underground, the Huashang Bao said Friday.

Most Safety Accidents in China Due to Human Errors: Lawmakers

Shocked by the recent spate of multiple-death accidents in China, lawmakers pointed out Tuesday that most of the tragedies were due to human error. It was extremely important to make the new law on work safety and workers should be educated on possible dangers in the workplace.

3393 Chinese Killed in Mine Accidents This Year

3393 Chinese people have been killed this year in a total of 2014 accidents of China's mines this year. The figure puts the industry on track to match or exceed last year's toll of 5,670 deaths despite repeated attempts to boost safety and close hazardous mines.
