Floods Claim over 1300 This Year
A village in Wangcheng County in Central China's Hunan Province, is inundated by flood water on August 21, 2002. Flood emergency has been declared in Hunan, where millions of people are threatened by surging water levels.
Floods Claim 1300 Lives This Year in China

Floods have caused 1300 deaths this year, said Wang Shucheng, minister of Water Resources in Hunan province. In the meanwhile, he made three suggestions for flood-control work of the country.

Water Level in East China Province Above Danger Mark

As the water levels on the Yangtze River continue to fall, all stations in the downstream Anhui Province are reporting an alert water level.

No Room for Mistakes in Fight Against Floods: Vice Premier

Vice-Premier Wen Jiabao has warned that China cannot afford to make mistakes in its ongoing efforts to combat floods in the Yangtze River area, because of the potential risk of disaster.
