President Jiang speaks at a ceremony marking the fifth anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China on July 1, 2002. Jiang pledged the central government's full support for the development of the Special Administrative Region. Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa was also sworn in for a second term on Monday.

Following is the full text of President Jiang Zemin's Speech at celebrations of the fifth anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland and the inauguration of the second-term government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region:

President Jiang Urges Mainland Bodies in HK to Do Better Job

Chinese President Jiang Zemin Monday praised the central government institutions and mainland-funded enterprises in Hong Kong for abiding by policies of the central government and making contributions to Hong Kong's social stability and economic development.

A magnificent fireworks display was staged over the Victoria Harbor Monday evening on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region(HKSAR).
