A gumboot sits atop a fencepost on the site of the old town of Adaminaby as it re-emerges out of Lake Eucumbene, located 150 km (93 miles) south of the Australian capital Canberra June 5, 2007. Drowned 50 years ago for progress and the promise of water without limit, the town known as Old Adaminaby is having an odd renaissance as a looters' heaven and centrepiece of Australia's desiccating climate. As the town re-surfaces from the vanishing waters of one of the country's largest man-made lakes, souvenir hunters have arrived for the relics laid bare by the worst drought on record.
