The large-scale construction has been proceeding in Suzhou Industrial Park in the past six years. Here, all the infrastructure and utilities projects are carried out up to world-class standard. The Nine Utilities and Land-filling Project, namely road, power, water, gas, steam, communications, sewage treatment, drainage, cable TV and land leveling, has been accomplished within Phase I area. The infrastructure construction, costing about US$ 850 million so far, has laid down superior conditions for investment. Nearly one-meter-high land filling could protect the prepared land against record flood in 100 years. Source Plants Power Power has been double-fed to the Park via Huadong Power Grid. As SIP Huaneng power plant in the nearby Taicang city went into operation in late 1999, the initial capacity of 600 MW is now available. The plant, with the final capacity of 3000 MW, guarantees the long-term power requirements of the Park. Water SIP has its own water plant which sources water from Tai Lake, about 30 km to the west. It supplies water of WHO 1997 standard, drinkable at the back end of treatment. The capacity of the first phase is 150,000 ton/day and the final capacity could reach 600,000 ton/day. Sewage The Park adopts centralized sewage treatment system. The sewage plant, with a final capacity of 500,000 ton/day, can treat 100,000 ton/day at present. Steam The existing steam supply capacity is 40 ton/hour and can rise with market demand to 120 ton/hour. Gas Piped high calorific LPG is supplied by Shell and Keppel joint venture. The current capacity is 150,000 m?day. Telecommunications Services for telecommunications and ISDN are available. Industrial Gas A full range of industrial gas is supplied by BOC Gases Co., Ltd. |
