Official Expelled From Party, Arrested for Bribery

Liu Zhibing, the former executive vice chairman of the people's government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in south China, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and arrested for allegedly taking bribes.

The decision to expel Liu, who is also a former member of the Standing Committee of Guangxi Regional CPC Committee, was made by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, with the approval of the CPC Central Committee.

In addition, the official has been arrested by the Supreme People's Procuratorate, according to official sources.

Sources say that Liu is alleged to have accepted a total of 832,000 yuan in bribes from institutions and individuals who sought his help to make illegal profits.

Liu is also charged with interfering with the judicial investigation of his daughter who was involved in a major criminalcase.

The official is also said to have committed adultery with married woman whose surname is Li.
