Mekong River Friendly Youth Boat Sets Sail

The international friendly youth boat carring representatives from Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam set sail Saturday in Xishuangbanna, southern city of China, the Thai News Agency reported.

Mekong River Friendly Youth Boat Sets Sail
The international friendly youth boat carring representatives from Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam set sail Saturday in Xishuangbanna, southern city of China, the Thai News Agency reported.

After the inaugural ceremony, the youth groups from six countries visited cultural villages in Xishuagbanna, then used hours on board to exchange idea and opinions in various issues as well as organized an exhibition on environment protection, according to the report.

They would also sign an official agreement on cooperation in the Mekong River Friendship Ship Project, which is aimed at promoting the tourism industry in the Mekong River region.

Krasae Chanawong, Thai minister of the prime minister office who joined Thai youth group said that Thai government was ready to support the project, adding that for the time being Thailand's Bangkok Airway had started a new route from Bangkok to Yunan.

As scheduled, the ship will make its first trip to Sob Lei Town of Myanmar Sunday morning.
