FM Spokeswoman on Clashes Between India, Pakistan

China hoped both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint in a bid to prevent border tensionsfrom escalating and deterioration of bilateral relations, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue Wednesday.

China hoped both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint in a bid to prevent border tensionsfrom escalating and deterioration of bilateral relations, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue Wednesday.

Zhang made the remark when asked to comment on the worsening relations between India and Pakistan, whose troops exchanged fireson the borders.

Zhang said China was seriously worried about the border clashes."As a neighbor and friend of both countries, China is very concerned about the development of the situation."

China hoped the two sides could properly handle problems through dialogue and coordination, and join hands to safeguard peace and stability in the region.
