FM Spokesman Confirms Jiang, Bush Talks

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan confirmed Thursday that Chinese President Jiang Zemin and U.S. President George W. Bush will hold talks during Bush's upcoming tour of China.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan confirmed Thursday that Chinese President Jiang Zemin and U.S. President George W. Bush will hold talks during Bush's upcoming tour of China.

Kong told a regular press conference that the two leaders will exchange in-depth views on bilateral relations as well as on regional and international issues of common concern.

He added that a reception will be held during the visit to welcome President Bush.

He noted that Vice Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing will visit the U.S. from February 1 to 6 for a vice ministerial-level consultation, as well for the preparations for Bush's China tour.

US President Bush to Visit China
China's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Sun Yuxi announced January 12 that, at the invitation of Chinese President Jiang Zemin, President of the United States George W. Bush will make a working visit to China from February 21 to 22.

Bush will visit China, Japan and South Korea starting from February 17, the White House announced in a press release.
