DPRK Top Leader Kim Jong Il Meets Russian Guest

Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), met on Monday with Konstantin Borisovich Pulikovski, plenipotentiary representative of the president of the Russian Federation to the Far East Federal District, the local media reported.

Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), met on Monday with Konstantin Borisovich Pulikovski, plenipotentiary representative of the president of the Russian Federation to the Far East Federal District, the local media reported.

The Korean Central News Agency said Kim held cordial and friendly talks with Pulikovski, who is on a visit to the DPRK.

At a dinner hosted by Kim, Yon Hyong Muk, member of the DPRK's National Defense Commission, spoke highly of Pulikovski's visit, saying it would be a big stride forward in further deepening the bilateral friendship and realizing the intentions and expectations of the top leaders of the two countries.

He expressed the hope that the cooperative relations between his country and the far eastern region of Russia would be developed briskly with the efforts of both sides in implementing bilateral declarations signed by Kim and Russian President Vladimir Putin in July 2000 and August 2001 when the two leaders met.

On his part, Pulikovski conveyed the regards of President Putin and expressed sincere appreciation for the kindness and warm hospitality he received in the DPRK.
