Kidnapped U.S. Reporter Dead

Daniel Pearl, The Wall Street Journal reporter who was kidnapped in Pakistan about four week ago, has been killed by his kidnappers, a senior State Department official said Thursday.

Daniel Pearl, The Wall Street Journal reporter who was kidnapped in Pakistan about four week ago, has been killed by his kidnappers, a senior State Department official said Thursday.

The official said U.S. law enforcement agency has received a video tape about eight hours ago on Thursday which convinced the U. S. government that the reporter has been killed.

The official refused to discuss the details of the tape because the government is still in the process of notifying Pearl's family.

Both the White House and The Wall Street Journal have also confirmed Pearl's death.

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation is reportedly examining the tape for clues to track the kidnappers.
