Li Furong, vice chairman of Chinese Winter Olympics Delegation said that Chinese athletes have achieved anticipated goal and reaped harvest from the 19th Winter Olympics.

China won 2 golds, two silvers, 4 bronzes, altogether 8 medals, although the total number of medals equal to that of last winter Olympics, China realizes a historical breakthrough, several generations' dream has come true. It is of great significance for China to further promote its winter sports, said Li Furong.

He also said that "I have participated in 5 Olympics, but this is my first time taking part in the winter Olympics, we should see our winter events are still at a low level, we still have a large gap compared with other countries.

The winter Olympics have 15 events, but China only take part in 7, less than 47 percent. In the summer Olympics we participated in 24 events among the 28, or 85.7 percent.

Even if we take part in those events, we still lag behind. Though we win women's short track speed skating as our advantageous event we still lack first rate athletes on top of a few like Yang Yang, Shen Xue, Zhao Hongbo and Li's Army.

Li said in view of such a situation, China has a long way to go before catching up with world sports powers and we need make arduous efforts.
